A positive business relationship is the origin story behind a new beer you can expect in November from Missouri Beer Company, based in O’Fallon, Missouri. Darkside will be a hearty stout, aged in Elijah Craig bourbon barrels. Those barrels were sent to Missouri Beer by Walnut Grill, an area casual dining restaurant, that just happens to serve Missouri Beer Company brew on draft, and has been one of their best partners. Their mutual success led Walnut Grill to send Missouri Beer two of their own barrels used to create their special Elijah Craig bourbon.
Darkside is brewed using Chico yeast, lots of malt and oats and both Simcoe and Columbus hops and lactose. It will be made available on draft at the Taproom, and all Walnut Grill locations, as well as in 22 oz bottles, with the label designed by veteran artist Rick Stokes, who does all of Missouri Beer’s labels.
