Today in St. Louis drinking for May 28

Today’s Writing Beer: Take Ten, the new imperial stout with pretzels, chocolate sauce, and peanuts from Perennial. Yum.

Here is what I found today that every beer and whiskey lover in St. Louis needs to know.

Embrace The Bitter

… Speaking of Perennial Artisan Ales, the south city brewery released the first beer from what they’re calling the Brewers’ Reserve Series. Ordinary Bitter is very drinkable at 3.5% ABV, which is right in style as English-style bitters are sessionable, lower-alcohol, and malt-driven. This beer brewed with a base of Maris Otter, a traditional, two-row, low-protein, winter barley variety with deep roots in English brewing, and a touch of both Crystal 15 and 60, a first wort addition of English grown Fuggle and fermented cold with Perennial’s preferred English ale strain. Support Your Local Bottle Shop

… Recently a fellow Reddit user asked about some of the best liquor stores that featured a good selection of local beers. That reminded me that if even though we want to support our local breweries, we need to think about the locally owned bottle shops as well. Each day, I’ll feature one, with a smattering of what they’re offering and links to their online stores.

… Both BeerSauce Shop stores are open. Both locations, in St. Peter’s and Sunset Hills are open for in-store shopping as well as online for curbside pick up. You can order from St. Peters here, and you can order from Sunset Hills here.
