When diners settle in at Lucy Quinn or its late-night sibling, Little Lucy, the food isn’t the only thing with a story. The house beer—clean, crisp, and quietly clever—is a lager called Let ‘Em Drink, brewed exclusively for both restaurants by 2nd Shift Brewing.
Created with approachability in mind, the lager is light-bodied and slightly sweet, finishing with a subtle citrus lift. “It’s meant to be familiar and drinkable,” says Candyce Fritsch, Creative Director at 2nd Shift Brewing. “This isn’t the kind of beer that needs a paragraph of tasting notes. It’s the kind you just enjoy.”
Visually, the beer fits in as seamlessly as a dish of duck-fat milk bread. The can art pulls directly from a custom wall mural in the restaurant—a vibrant, tropical-leaning work of art located near the restrooms that links the space’s eclectic design themes. “They sent over reference photos, and I knew immediately it would work,” Fritsch says. “It’s one of the more organic branding projects we’ve done.”
As for the name, Let ‘Em Drink strikes a balance between down-home hospitality and playful commandment. “It sounded like something you’d overhear around a Southern table,” says Fritsch. “There’s a tone to it that just felt right.”
Available in cans and on draft, Let ‘Em Drink is currently pouring only at Lucy Quinn and Little Lucy. For now, it’s as much a part of the space as the banana pudding or the bright pink diner stools—and that’s exactly how they like it.
