While I’m not a rich man, I like to think I can drink like one.
Yesterday, I wrote about a new bottle of Michter’s 20-year that had me salivating as I typed. But with a $700 price tag, I knew that I better go pour myself some US1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon and call it a night.
Now, another bottle is about to drop that I probably should not dream about, but I will.
Angel’s Envy, makes some of the finest small-batch whiskeys I’ve ever had. Their Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Port Barrels, is now a staple on my bar.
Today, the Louisville-based distiller announced the limited-edition release of Angel’s Envy 2019 Cask Strength Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels.
Just over 14,000 bottles of the 122.4-proof/61.2% ABV special release will be available in select U.S. markets beginning November 1, including for purchase directly from the Angel’s Envy distillery in Louisville.
This newest release is a direct result of AEs cask strength program, which began in 2012. Select barrels, of their Kentucky Straight Bourbon, are chosen from the rickhouse and are put through a lengthy finishing process in Portuguese port wine casks.
“Each year’s hand-selected Cask Strength Bourbon is a little bit different, and we’re excited for our fans, who we consider part of our own family, to experience this year’s release and take part in this tradition with us for the eighth year,” said Wes Henderson, Chief Innovation Officer and Co-founder of the distillery.
