I know, I know! Your Spring beer calendar is filling up fast, but please do what you must to make room for one of my favorite events. St. Louis Microfest is one of this beer town’s premiere festivals and it’s coming up.
One of the few festivals that has the range to run multiple days, Microfest features international, national and of course local beer selections during 3 sessions over 2 days. It’s big, it’s wet and it’s awesome.
Drinking For A Cause
For all the beer you’ll be consuming, know beforehand in case you forget, that you’re making an investment in a good cause. All proceeds from St. Louis Microfest go to benefit Lift For Life Gym. Since 1988, Lift For Life Gym has been providing St. Louis’ inner-city youth with positive alternatives to drug abuse, violence, and gang involvement.
The Beer
The numbers of brewers attending Microfest continue to astound and have made this festival one of St. Louis’ biggest on pure beer selection alone. The 125 expected at this year’s event are combination of returning veterans as well a good number of rookies.
“St. Louis Microfest has been around for 23 years now so it has made a name for itself and reputation of being one of the larger craft beer festivals in the city,” said Lauran Sauer of Lift For Life Gym. “For this reason, we attract newer breweries that are getting ready to open or have just recently open. It’s a great opportunity for those breweries to get their product in consumer hands in mass quantities.”
But at its core, the reason so many breweries give up their time and product for Microfest is simply the cause.
I think the other reason it’s well attended by breweries is because it’s a fundraiser for a local non-profit.”
“We’re so thankful for the support of all of these breweries, they’re helping make our community a better place and helping the many youth we serve,” said Sauer.

What’s in the VIP Experience?
In past years, I’ve avoided investing in VIP experiences, but my tune is changing a bit. For Microfest, you may want to consider it. Aside from the culinary adventure featuring masterpieces created and prepared by Chef Tom Cohgill of Iron Barley Restaurant, you’ll find plenty of special beers made only available with this ticket.
Urban Chestnut and Big Shark combo made me tear up, just a little
