Pardon to all you “Nick’s” out there, but Dave is a real name. Dave’s your buddy. Dave’s the kind of guy you can trust, the kind of guy you can drink a beer with, the kind of guy who doesn’t mind if you puke in his car, Dave!
But you won’t want to waste this Dave by puking him all over your buddy’s car. This Dave is your friend, and he deserves to be treated with kindness.
Dave is now on tap at Two Plumbers Brewery + Arcade in St. Charles. A small 2 barrel brewery, Two Plumbers have been open since March of this year. They may be small, but they are brewing lots of styles, many overlooked by larger breweries. They also happen to have over 40 arcade and pinball games inside their taproom. Something completely unique to the area.
Meet Dave! 6.3% ABV
Dave is a special one for head brewer John Simon. When he was just getting into the hobby he found himself trying to explain the brewing process to his father. Rather than bore him with a long lecture he convinced his dad to hang out and brew a beer with him. The resulting recipe is a tasty smoked amber ale which they call Dave, in honor of John’s dad, Dave.
Tasting Notes:
The beer pours clean and smooth. At first glance, you’ll get a beautiful clear, deep amber with a nice off-white head.
On the nose, you’ll get a subtle smoke and sweet malt with hints of dark fruit.
On your first swig, you’ll find dark fruit notes, some slight nuttiness with a light cherrywood smokiness. It’s pretty light on the smoke flavor, so you won’t get overpowered on your the pallet. The smokiness complements the other ingredients and balances the total experience.
