Earlier this week, we debuted three new cold weather cocktails and now we have more to add to your “St. Louis Cocktail Winter Menu.”
Today we learned that Jeffery Moll, head barman at Randolfi’s, is bringing back his limited-time holiday cocktail menu at his popular Italian restaurant in the Loop.
Moll is showing off his knowledge of cocktail history and adding his own personal touches to warm up our holiday spirits. The special menu will be available starting December 9 and run through the end of December.
“Many of these drinks are deeply rooted in history so I pay homage to the classic preparation,” said Moll. “I’m a bit of a cocktail history nerd and have an extensive vintage glassware collection so I like to introduce guests to these old-school holiday drinks.”
Moll’s aged eggnog follows the style of George P. Hunt’s “secret recipe.” Mr. Hunt was a guy in the 20’s who used to host eggnog parties to a select group of friends to make the special recipe. The approach to this super-boozy nog is to start it on the weekend that proceeds Thanksgiving. As the nog ages in the following weeks, it mellows out and thickens up. Because of its alcohol content, it is also very stable so long as it’s refrigerated. Moll even has a batch at home that’s over 5 years old!
Here’s the complete cocktail menu:
