OFallon_cherry1

BEER NAME: Cherry Chocolate Beer
STYLE: Dark Wheat
ABV: 5.7%
IBU: 8
BREWERY: O’Fallon Brewery
BEER ADVOCATE RATING: 73
RATE BEER RATING: 20

BREWERY COMMENTS: A dark wheat beer that tastes like a chocolate covered cherry…only better! Brewed with four kinds of grain and two hops varieties for a smooth, delicious beer…the perfect sipping beer for the cooler winter months.

drinkMObeer COMMENTS (Andrew): A cherry cordial in a bottle! While this isn’t an everyday drinker, this one’s a real treat on an occasional winter’s eve. Pouring dark brown with reddish hues around the edge of the glass and a thin off-white head sticks around briefly. This dark wheat beer hits the nose with the supper sweet smell of maraschino cherry while a swig delivers smooth chocolate and sweet cherry notes. The low carbonation and fairly thin mouthfeel allow the sweet cherry flavor to shine in this wintertime classic.

GreenChili16

BEER NAME: Green Chili

STYLE: Spice/Herb/Vegetable
ABV: 4%
IBU: 6
BREWERY: Main & Mill Brewing Company
BEER ADVOCATE RATING: –
RATE BEER RATING:

BREWERY COMMENTS: A very light and easy-drinking ale with strong green chile flavor and aroma. The chili flavor, while potent, keeps the heat at a manageable level.

drinkMObeer COMMENTS (Andrew): This brew congers adventures in the southwest. Pouring a touch darker than golden with slight haze, a good, white head and visible carbonation, this well executed beer’s aroma wakes the drinker with spicy, green and clean notes. The taste of the green peppers is evident, but never obnoxious as it tickles the tongue with heat and carbonation, cleansing the palate for another drink.

018MorganStreetPilsBEER NAME: Golden Pilsner
STYLE: Pilsner
ABV: 5%
IBU: 35
BREWERY: Morgan Street Brewery
BEER ADVOCATE RATING: –
RATE BEER RATING: 32

BREWERY COMMENTS: With a strong hop character, our version of a classic, Bohemian Pilsner is right on the mark. You’ll find rich maltyness in the finish as well as a crisp palate.

drinkMObeer COMMENTS (Chris): The aroma of grain and honey set the stage for what Morgan Street’s Golden Pilsner is going to taste like. It’s a grainy up front and ends with a sweet malty, honey finish. All in all, it’s a crisp and refreshing pils.

Blackberry-WheatBEER NAME: Blackberry Wheat
STYLE: Wheat
ABV: 5%
IBU: 14
BREWERY: Kirkwood Station Brewing Company
BEER ADVOCATE RATING: –
RATE BEER RATING: 31

BREWERY COMMENTS: A uniquely light and refreshing fruit beer with a crisp, clean flavor that is yellow in color. It is an easy drinking, slightly sweet beer with a blackberry flavor that is distinct, yet not overpowering. Medium light body with a medium high carbonation.

drinkMObeer COMMENTS (Chris): This beer packed a super fruity aroma that you could sniff for days. But why smell, when you can drink?! The taste of blackberries are definitely there, but in no way overpowering. Not as sweet as I was expecting for a fruit beer, which isn’t a bad thing. Nice wheat flavor on the finish. A very drinkable beer. Prost!

020MODERNCITRAPOLISBEER NAME: Citrapolis
STYLE: India Pale Ale
ABV: 7%
IBU: 70
BREWERY: Modern Brewery
BEER ADVOCATE RATING: –
RATE BEER RATING: 87

BREWERY COMMENTS: A bitter, moderately strong American pale ale that uses its clean, supporting malt to showcase its hop character.

drinkMObeer COMMENTS (Chris): A Citra Hop Bomb! Found this tasty St. Louis brewed beer on tap at the Flying Saucer. The beer pours a hazy orange hue with a off-white head. The nose is full of citrusy delight that carries through to the taste. The medium bodied Citrapolis finishes with a nice sweet yet bitter taste. In my opinion, a very drinkable IPA. Prost!

ChocopbbananaBEER NAME: Chocolate Milk Stout with Peanut Butter & Banana
STYLE: Stout – Milk/Sweet
ABV: N/A
IBU: N/A
BREWERY: 4 Hands Brewing Co.
BEER ADVOCATE RATING: –
RATE BEER RATING:

BREWERY COMMENTS: Nothin’ Doing

drinkMObeer COMMENTS (Andrew): This limited release cask pours just shy of black with a large, off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin lacing around the edges. Notes of sweet chocolate come through first, followed by a good measure of banana and slight peanut butter scent. The first swig delivers the usual sweet, creamy chocolate you’d expect, backed by a slight bitterness that gives way to a good punch of slightly green banana that seems to be covered in creamy peanut butter. A fun wintertime drinker that tastes like childhood.
