While we wait patiently for spring to arrive, we might as well enjoy the last of the great winter beers, in the fridge, specifically the stouts we’ve enjoyed these many months.
Last year, 4 Hands celebrated their love of stouts and the wide variety of stouts in their portfolio, as well as those made by their friends, with an annual festival called Slipping Into Darkness. But this year’s festival has a bit of twist to it, beginning with one just happens to be one of my favorite styles of music to drink beer too, bluegrass.
The first ever Slipping into Bluegrass is a FREE, family-friendly event with food and beer available for purchase on March 8th.
Vince Herman & the Foggy Memory Boys with opening guests The River Kittens. The event kicks off around 5 pm with music beginning at 5:30 pm.
Beer will be available inside and out along with food available from Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Co., Truck Norris, and Farmtruk.
Look forward to getting down with some killer live tunes the eve before the 2nd annual Slipping into Darkness event the next day.
The 2019 event is March 9th, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.and will feature 25 of 4 Hands best stouts, as well as a full-on New Orleans, themed menu provided by The Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Co. as well as their friends from Sump to provide a caffeine fix.
The festival is broken into “experiences” featuring 25 + stouts from the host brewery, as well as a collection of stouts from guest breweries.

G.F.Y. Stout is a roast-forward Irish stout. Bittersweet cocoa, toast, and dark fruit predominate the nose, and it finishes with some bitterness and moderate dryness. It’s the first beer we ever released commercially (2012), and it is the torch-bearer for what Spiteful represents.
Hopewell Brewing
-
Big Cold Brew is an Imperial Coffee Stout—the winterized version of its summertime counterpart. Added weight and richness set the stage for a robust Oaxacan coffee, giving way to big hits of fudge, graham cracker and nutmeg. Brewed in collaboration with Metric Coffee

Nutellazilla imperial milk stout with hazelnuts
-
Double jungle boogie double pale ale with rooibos tea
Solemn Oath Brewing

The Almond Joy Madagascar that they offered at SiD last year was one of the very best beers I’ve ever had. Excited to sample this year’s offerings!
