Time is running out for “Eat A Peach” this summer

Just in time for the opening of peach picking season, St. Louis’ Rock ‘n Roll brewery, Heavy Riff Brewing marked the season with the release of “Eat A Peach” in cans, but available for a limited time outside the brewery. But, that time is running out.

The backstory of “Eat A Peach”

The beer was inspired when Heavy Riff was brewing a batch of their staple beer “Prison Bound.”

“The yeast strain that we use was giving off a nice peachy flavor and we decided to add Peach and Mosaic hops to make it more tropical,” said Jake Flick, Sales Manager for Heavy Riff Brewing Company. “We also happened to be listening to the Album “Eat A Peach” by The Allman brothers, so the name kind of fell in place perfectly.”

Making fruit beers

The key to fruited beers, or should I say really good fruited beers, is the use of natural fruit, fresh-picked, and never frozen. That is exactly what Heavy Riff does. They use only natural fruit and a whole heck of a lot of it. Their unique yeast strain along with the fruit helps subdue the hop character in just the right way.

Can Art

Next to enjoying the beer itself, make sure you give the can art some of your time as well. This can pops and was designed by Heavy Riff’s in-house artist Tony Dovi. Dovi hand penned this label inspired by the inner gate fold of the vinyl version of
“Eat A Peach” by the Allman Brothers.

Tasting Notes

On the pour: It appears very hazy with a really nice white foam.  Looks like a glass of Juice.

On the nose: Very big peach aroma hits you up front and lingers with tropical notes throughout.

The flavor: Uh, Peach… and a lot of it.

Food pairing: Pairs very well with BBQ while listening to outdoor music

Where can you find “Eat A Peach”

Only available through the end of July, you can find it at Total Wine and more, Randalls, Friar Tuck, Wine and Cheese place, and Select Schnucks locations.
