Hazy Pineapple Double IPA to highlight Schlafly’s Hop in The City, The COVID edition

Call it a first-world problem, but we may never be able to attend a true “beer festival” again. Hundreds of people, glasses in hand, moving from table to table, getting pours of this and that. It’s a beer lovers nirvana.

But, perhaps Schlafly has found a way for us to get just a bit of that festival feeling back.

Today the Schlafly Beer announced new plans for their two upcoming festivals of Art Outside and HOP in the City. Art Outside will be a virtual art fair this year to support over 40 local artists on Friday, September 4 through Sunday, September 6. HOP in the City is Saturday, September 19. Then, Schlafly will debut the HOP at Home Mixed Case ($85), including 24 popular and experimental beers.

HOP in the City is traditionally an opportunity to taste almost all of Schlafly’s beer portfolio, but this year, you do that, but just at home.

Guests can shop the Art Outside Virtual Art Fair here and reserve a HOP at Home Mixed Case for pick-up here at The Schlafly Tap Room (2100 Locust Street). In addition to the virtual festivals, the brewery will host socially distanced, on-site events for both Art Outside and HOP in the City.

“Both Art Outside and HOP in the City are festivals that are highly anticipated by our guests and everyone here at the brewpubs. Celebrating our community over great beer is at the heart of both festivals so we found a way to continue that experience while staying safe and socially distanced,” says Stephen Hale, founding brewer at Schlafly Beer.

2020 Art Outside Virtual Fair:

Art Outside’s online fair will showcase art from over 40 local artists within a 125-mile radius of Schlafly Bottleworks. Guests will find artists selling work in ceramics, digital work, fiber & textiles, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, painting & drawing, photography, printmaking and wood.

Featured artists include A Year in the City, Beqi Clothing, Binx Ceramic, FletcherWorks, Locus Photoart, LVMdesigns, New Spin on Tradition: Handmade Pottery, Sara Patino Jewelry, The Happy Houseplant, West Park Creative and more.

The brewery is also accepting donations that will be split equally between all participating artists here.

Schlafly Bottleworks (7260 Southwest Ave, Maplewood, MO 63143) will also offer small groups to gather on Saturday, September 5 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. to celebrate the spirit of Art Outside with table reservations for up to 6 people. Tickets include: a bucket of assorted Schlafly Beer, a family-style meal with table service, Schlafly swag, and live music for $250. Guests can reserve a table for the event here. 2020 HOP in the City:

The annual HOP in the City event provides the brewery with the opportunity to showcase their passion for a wide range of beer styles.

This year, the HOP at Home Mixed Case was created to celebrate the festival’s experience and feature beers including Schlafly’s traditional beers such as Pale Ale, IPA, and Oktoberfest to experimental brews like Dortmunder, Side Work, as well as the exclusive HOP 2020 Festival Beer: Hazy Pineapple Double IPA.

Similar to Art Outside, there will be limited reserved outside seating at Schlafly Tap Room (2100 Locust St, St. Louis, MO 63103) on Saturday, September 19 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $250 for a group of up to 6 people and include: a reserved table, a bucket of Schlafly Beer, a family-style meal with table service, Schlafly swag and a trivia game with prizes. Guests can reserve a table for the event here. Visit here to purchase a HOP at Home Case and here to learn more about the HOP in the City on-site event.
