St. Louis’ own StilL 630 wins big at national spirit competition

Major news to report from the increasingly competitive distillery world.  St. Louis is a player.

St. Louis’ own StilL 630 owner David Weglarz is back from Chicago and the American Craft Spirits Association’s annual Spirits Competition held last week in Chicago, the judges publicly proclaimed what thousands of St. Louisans and visitors already knew: that StilL 630 is one of that absolute best craft distilleries anywhere in the country!

The ACSA is the premier industry group for craft distillers in America.  In a double blind, professionally run spirits judging competition that included over 200 distilleries from all over the United States, the judges tasted over 600 different spirits and awarded medals to the most outstanding.

Weglarz and StilL 630 Distillery walked away with six medals and much, much more.

“Soulard Island Rum”: Bronze
“Soulard Island Smoked Honey Rum”: Bronze
“Alpha ISBA”: Bronze
“RallyPoint Maple Sunset”: Silver
“S.S. Sorghum Whiskey”: Silver
“Double Barrel RallyPoint Rye Whiskey”: GOLD

Double Barrel RallyPoint not only took home the gold, but was named the BEST of the Rye Whiskey category!

But the crown jewel was the “BEST IN CLASS – WHISKEY” award, which Double Barrel RallyPoint Rye Whiskey won! This award is given to the single best whiskey in the entire competition.  It quite literally means ‘Best Whiskey in America’.

“StilL 630 has two employees, including myself,” wrote Weglarz.  “And I cannot stress enough how proud we are that we were able to bring these awards home to St. Louis!  This is a crowning achievement and the result of years of relentless, passionate work.  Using our Missouri oak barrels, our Missouri-made pot still, and our Missouri weather, I am making some world-class spirits right here in Missouri and now the rest of the world is on notice!”

Congratulations David. St. Louis is proud of you.
