Schlafly Bottlework’s annual Full Moon Festival is a free celebration of both beer and chili. And not just any chili, but pots of boiling goodness cooked up by St. Louis’ top chefs.
The popular harvest celebration is returning to Schlafly Bottleworks (7260 Southwest Ave, Maplewood, MO 63143) on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 3-9 p.m. Celebrate the pending Beaver Full Moon (November 8) with seasonal Schlafly beers, roasted pigs from local farmers, bonfires, live music, and the annual Chili Cook-Off featuring acclaimed local chefs.
The Chili
This year, the Chili Cook-Off features original chili recipes from five St. Louis restaurants and brands including Alex Henry of Sureste, a Yucatan-style Mexican concept at City Foundry STL; Cathy Jenkins of beloved Ferguson, MO restaurant Cathy’s Kitchen; Amy Guo of the inventive Sando Shack (Japanese-style sandwiches) and Hello Poke; Pitmaster Zach Dingman of the award-winning barbecue restaurant, Sugarfire Smokehouse; and the plant-powered food company, rootberry.
All you need to do is purchase a ticket and receive samples of all five chili recipes as well as a ticket to cast a ballot for your favorite. The chef with the most tickets will be named the winner.
Additionally, the Schlafly culinary team will be roasting eight hogs on-site, and guests can purchase a Pig Platter with a pulled pork sandwich and two sides including baked beans, slaw, greens, and mac and cheese. Schlafly Bottleworks’ full menu will also be available for purchase inside the brewpub.
The Beer
This year’s Full Moon Festival will feature favorite Schlafly fall beers such as: White Lager, Pumpkin Ale, Just A Bit Hazy IPA, Proper Cider, Coffee Stout, and more.
The Music
Guests can enjoy live music from local bands throughout the day including Hillary Fitz (3-4 p.m.), Colonel Ford (4:20-5:30 p.m.), Dog Town Record Allstars (6-7:15 p.m.) and River Kitten (7:45-9 p.m.).
