Intoxicology launches its allocated whiskey release St. Louis shoppers wait for

allocated whiskey release St. Louis

If you have followed my writing for any amount of time, you know my mantra when it comes to expensive whiskey:

1. I know I cannot drink them all, and 2. I know I will never own them all.

That two-part truth has rescued me from more whiskey FOMO than I can count. It also fits perfectly with Intoxicology’s Allocated Whiskey Release, which is accepting entries right now.

Because here is the honest part. Most of us will never taste every bottle on this list. Some are rare, some are priced out of reach, and some sit in that place where they are meant to be appreciated the way you appreciate a vintage car or a great guitar. From a few feet away, with admiration, respect and a little curiosity. But that should not stop anyone from walking into Intoxicology this week and trying to become the proud parent of one of these bottles. That is the fun of it.

And Intoxicology is the right shop for it. This is a place known for its hospitality, its curated spirits, its tasting counter, its cocktail workshops and its willingness to guide you without making you feel like you wandered into a secret club. The Allocated Whiskey Release is run with the same spirit. It is meant to be accessible, friendly and fair.

How the event works

Entries are accepted in store through December 6. One entry per customer per bottle keeps the playing field level. No phone calls, no emails and no workarounds. You walk in, you fill out your slips and you walk out. Winners will be notified on December 14 and will have 48 hours to confirm their purchase.

What you are entering for is simple. A chance to buy a bottle that you probably would not find at retail under normal circumstances. A chance to turn a quiet December afternoon into a celebration. A chance to surprise a friend who has always wanted to taste something special. Or a chance to tuck something rare into the back of your own cabinet and open it when the moment feels right.

What is on the list

The lineup is solid. No hype required. These are bottles that whiskey fans recognize and appreciate. The list includes Blanton’s, Elijah Craig 18 Year, Stagg Jr., Weller 12 Year in the one liter bottle, Four – Four Roses Limited Edition releases and Willett 8 Year. There is also Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year.

Intoxicology is also hosting a silent auction on two bottles from a private collection. One is a George T. Stagg from 2013. The other is an Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year in the discontinued squat bottle. These are the kinds of bottles collectors like to chase, but the auction is relaxed and simple. Bidding happens in store and the winners complete the purchase directly with the owner.

Why you should go

Because this event is not about chasing status. It is not about camping in a parking lot. It is not about competing with strangers. It is about possibility. You walk in, put your name into a few bowls, enjoy the shop for a few minutes and head back into your day.

Then, maybe, your phone rings on December 14.
