Just in time for grilled burgers, porch hangs, and that friend who always brings the giant Jenga set, Switchgrass Spirits is rolling out a brand-new American Whiskey—and it’s ready to steal the spotlight at your Memorial Day party.
Crafted in North St. Louis by the worker-owned distillery that’s built a cult following (and brought home some shiny medals from San Francisco) is whiskey is everything you’d expect from Switchgrass: thoughtful, unpretentious, and made with local pride. This new American Whiskey blends four grains—malted barley, wheat, corn, and rye—for a mashbill that leans bourbon-sweet, with just enough rye spice to keep things interesting.

It clocks in at 82 proof, with notes of stone fruit, honey, and a soft vanilla finish. Or, as Head Distiller Pat Grosh puts it, it pairs well with “calmer weather, summer, and sitting on the porch.” Yes, please.
The patriotic label? A 1950s-style red, white, and blue nod to Switchgrass’s signature lineup—blue for bourbon, red for rye. This new bottle ties the room together like a vintage shag rug and a well-worn pair of Levi’s.
And if you’re more of a “beer and a shot” person (no judgment—we’ve been there), you’re in good company. “Sometimes a beer and a shot of whiskey is my favorite drink,” says cocktail whiz and Switchgrass worker-owner Kate Pogue. To celebrate the new whiskey, look for Beer, Burger, and American Whiskey Shot specials popping up now in St. Louis, St. Charles, Columbia, and KC.
The whiskey officially launched this weekend, and bottles are now available at local shops and at the Tower Grove and St. Charles Farmers Markets. Priced under $35, it’s an easy win for group hangs, spontaneous patio nights, and Father’s Day gifts.
TL;DR:
Switchgrass’s new American Whiskey is out now—and just in time. With bourbon sweetness, rye spice, and a red-white-and-blue label, it’s the STL-made porch pour your Memorial Day weekend was waiting for.
