On December 24, 2020, I posted the following on Untappd about the collaboration beer between Modern Brewing and 2nd Shift Brewing called Home and Away, not knowing at the time that it was a collaboration.
And, I meant it. This beer was at a different level for me, and considering that I was discovering Modern’s Smoothie Style Kettle Sours, it was just another reason, I was falling back in love with what Modern was doing last year.
I truly believe that Home And Away was that good, and would never be topped, until now.
Modern, 2nd Shift reunite to release new version of Home And Away
“This second installment of the ongoing series with our awesome neighbors over at 2nd Shift! We’re super stoked and thankful that we get to hang out and get to know them better over this past year,” wrote Beamer Eisele, on social medial.
This rendition of Home and Away is an 8% Imperial New England Style IPA, loaded with oats, wheat, and a pinch of milk sugar.
“Then we hopped this thing to the max with beautiful Nelson Sauvin, Cryo Cascade, and Cryo Loral in the Whirlpool, with even more Nelson Sauvin and Cryo Cascade in the 2 Dry Hops,” wrote Eisele.
