Today in St. Louis Beer | Memorial Day Edition

Beer Of The Week

Today’s writing beer: Petrichor Brewing’s Blood Orange Wheat. 5.4% ABV.

Here is what I found today that every beer and whiskey lover in St. Louis needs to know.

Happy Memorial Day

Today, we raise our glasses and salute the brave men and women who gave all to preserve our freedom.

Who’s Open Today

4 Hands Brewing Company is open this Memorial Day for contactless curbside sales until 6pm today and are featuring a new Contact High Variety 9 Pack with three 16oz cans each of Contact High Hazy, Grapefruit Radler and Hard Seltzer – Tangerine! You can order online.

Petrichor Brewing is a brewpub located in the heart of O’Fallon, MO in the quiet neighborhood of Winghaven. They will be open today at 4 p.m. Be sure to try their Blood Orange Wheat. That’s today’s backyard beer, and it’s just light enough to deal with this heat.

Alpha Brewing is open, and also serving food and beer curbside or pick up 2-8 today. They will also have dine-in service today when doors open 5-8 PM.

New Beer This Week

…. This Wednesday morning, Side Project will be adding two new beers to their online shop! The first, We Are You, is a collaboration with some of their best friends at Sante Adairius Rustic Ales, Tired Hands Brewing and Private Mess Brewing. The second is a new, limited-expression, showing the continued experimentation and growth of our Missouri Wild Ales – a Port Barrel-Aged Sour Brown with Michigan grown Montmorency Cherries. More details can be found here

Opening Up

Don’t forget that many of your favorite local breweries also have full or bar menus, and they start the process of opening up, many are making the necessary changes to keep us and their staffs as safe as possible.

… Edwardsville’s on Recess Brewing announced it will be able to offer outdoor seating starting this Friday!!! Curbside beer sales will continue as well. They have a few styles that are currently only available in cans. These last couple cases of cans will be the last chance to try them!  They are also offering growler fills.

When Bourbon And Beer Come Together

… Mark your calendar friends. The date is June 3. Stubborn German Brewing Company is a big lover of bourbon, and they are planning a virtual whiskey sampling that night at 7 p.m. via Zoom. You’ll get 8 whiskey samples and the cost is $33. Here’s how it works.

  • Visit the Stubborn German’s Facebook Page and send them a message that you’re interested.
  • They’ll confirm you’re on the list. When they do, you’ll need to make a visit to the brewery to pick up your samples. You can do this between May 27 and May 31.

On June 3, you’ll join the call and taste through the samples. Owner Chris Rahn set up a fine list of distinguished guests like Jackie Zycan from Old Forester, Wes Henderson, founder of Angel’s Envy, and Dr. Pat Heist of Wilderness Trail joining us via Zoom. Spots are limited!

Curb Side Update

Just about every brewery is doing curbside pick-up while the work to get themselves open. Here are a few reminders about who is doing what.

…  Nick Lyon and his team at Deep Sleep Brewing Company are open, and canning as fast as they can. You may recall, that the Washington, Missouri, based Deep Sleep is indeed a brewery, but one without a taproom. Right now, they are asking anyone who would like some beer to simply message them on Facebook. All orders are for pick-up only.

… That’s it for now. Hope you found this informative.
