Westward expansion, new collaborations and expanded celebrations on tap for Third Wheel in 2020

Third Wheel Brewing brews an inviting culture filled with beer, food, and friends. Everyone there is a ‘stooge’ and the ‘stooges’ want to be your friend. They want to get you a beer, while you get yourself some food from their walk-up kitchen window.  The place is large and spacious and everyone, including kids, is welcome.

From Drink314In 2017, Third Wheel was the first local brewery to bring suds to St. Peters and also provided beer lovers with the long-awaited professional debut of brewmaster Abbey Spencer.

New For 2020

Now, on the cusp of a new year in beer, Third Wheel is growing in multiple ways, highlighted by the recent expansion of its beer distribution into the Columbia, Missouri market, Spencer’s hometown. Now, it’s time to introduce Third Wheel to even more beer lovers.

“We will be in select places along Main Street in St. Charles, and by fall, we are making plans to be in Kansas City,” said brewery owner Brad Wheeling. “We are also moving the release of our Imperial Stout “B.O.S.S.” to its own event in October.”

2020 will mark the brewery’s third anniversary, and since they are “Third Wheel,” three years is a significant milestone. Look for an entire week of events to celebrate and honor the occasion.

New Releases

Third Wheel’s first release of 2020 will be on Saturday, January 25.

The brewery is known for brewing birthday beers for each of their team members and releases it on his or her birthday. It started when Wheeling requested Spencer make a black IPA for his birthday. Brad’s birthday is coming up, and he’s asked for a Mexican chocolate cake stout. They will tap that small-batch the last Saturday in January.

There will be several new releases next year, but the release dates are not yet known. We’ll keep you posted.

Big Collaborations

Third Wheel has quite a few collaborations planned for 2020. The first collaboration release will be a big pastry stout in with their friends at Sucrose Bakery. That should hit the taps in February.

Next, look for a smoothie style sour with The BeerSauce Shop, a beer called Silk Pajamas. It is a Berliner Weisse with strawberry, raspberry, vanilla, and lactose.  It will be on draught at both Third Wheel and The BeerSauce Shop locations, as well as a to-go option in 16-ounce cans.  This will be released in early Spring 2020.

Later in the year, there will be a three-way collaboration between Third Wheel Brewing, Wood Hat Spirits, and The BeerSauce Shop. They are currently aging an imperial stout in several different Wood Hat barrels for a fall release.

There is also a highly unique collab brewing for release during our anniversary week.  More details to come.
