It is becoming more evident, via social media, that there is clearly a population of beer drinkers who love pumpkin beer and a population of beer drinkers who hate pumpkin beer.
This information will make pumpkin beer lovers smile while making pumpkin beer haters STFH’s.
As National Pumpkin Day grows closer, October 26th, and on heels of their renowned pumpkin beer bringing home a silver medal from the Great American Beer Festival earlier this month, Schlafly is now offering three pumpkin beer varieties: the award-winning Pumpkin Ale, Cellar Series: Pumpkin Stout & the From the Ibex Cellar Series: Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Ale.
Pumpkin Ale has been a seasonal staple for years, and now Pumpkin Stout is available in a new 750 ml bottle format as part of the Cellar Series. But the big news is the debut of a Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Ale, the latest from the From The Ibex Cellar Series, the breweryâs premium program that was introduced this year.Â
Founding Brewer Stephen Hale explains, âWhen you have such a great base beer, such as our Pumpkin Ale, itâs fun to experiment with it to create something new. While Pumpkin Stout was a happy accident, our Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Ale has been a dream for some time and our first foray into aging in rum barrels.â
Pumpkin Ale / ABV: 8.0% and IBU: 16
Well-balanced from start to finish, with notes of caramel and ginger throughout. The beer is fermented in pounds of fresh pumpkin squash as well as a brewerâs wort and sugar mix before being filtered through a spiced infusion of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. Like a slice of pumpkin pie in a bottle.
Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Ale (From The Ibex Cellar) / ABV: 9.5% IBU: 16:
Schlafly ages their Pumpkin Ale for several months in rum barrels to bring forward notes of molasses, brown sugar, raisins and endless character from the oak barrels. These flavors combined with the rich, sweet, spicy, full-bodied elements of the Pumpkin Ale make this a sought-after fall seasonal sipper.  Limited distribution; suggested retail price $17.99
Pumpkin Stout (Cellar Series) / ABV: 6.8% IBU: 20
The recipe is the result of an improvisational union between two of our most popular beers, which created the Pumpkin Stoutâbalanced and smooth, with the perfect ratio of spice to roasted sweetness. While at a beer festival and quickly running out of our seasonal Pumpkin Ale, our ambassadors began mixing it with Oatmeal Stout to prolong the supply. Their creation turned out to be a huge hit and soon became an intentional brew, officially debuting at 2011âs HOP in the City. Limited distribution; suggested retail price $11.99
