Senn Bierwerks chooses University City for new brewery

Senn Bierwerks will join University City officials Tuesday morning to announce the much-anticipated location for its new brewery.

The project is being spearheaded by Morgan Street Brewery alums Dustin Chalfant and James Hellmuth.

The pair announced their plans in March, but had yet to name a location for the new brewery. A press conference with University City officials is slated for Tuesday morning at 7593 Olive Boulevard, the presumptive site for the new facility.

The 20-barrel production facility will include a tasting room and beer garden. It will also be the area’s first 100% aluminum packaging brewery. It’s scheduled to open in the Spring of 2017.

Senn Bierwerks gets its name from Chalfant’s great-great-great-great uncle Frank Senn Sr., who founded a brewery in Louisville, Kentucky, back in 1874.
