Get ready for Ryan Helsley Day at 4 Hands Brewing

The start of the 2023 Cardinals season is March 30th, but I’m already looking ahead to April 15th. Not because my taxes are due three days later, but because it’s the first-ever Ryan Helsley Day at 4 Hands Brewing Company.

The fireball relief pitcher and the brewery are partnering to spread the City Wide Mission which was created in 2016 to help give back to the community. In that time it has donated more than $350,000 to the St. Louis community in partnership with over 20 area non-profit organizations.

“In 2016 we created a beer to give back to the city that gave everything to us. Our vision for a philanthropic beverage became City Wide,” said 4 Hands owner Kevin Lemp. “This beer is our voice, our change agent in the community and our badge of honor. We see City Wide as a collaboration with everyone who claims they are “from St. Louis and for St. Louis.”

The original City Wide is an American pale ale brewed from a blend of Centennial, Citra and Simcoe hops in the kettle and during dry-hopping. You’ll get some good hoppiness here, and good fruit in the taste and the nose.

City Wide Pils is a traditional lager brewed with American-grown pilsner malt and hopped with Mt. Hood in the kettle and during dry-hopping to spice it up. A portion of City Wide Pils sales benefits St. Louis area workspace incubators focused on fostering the most creative projects. Scholarships are awarded to individuals within our community to aid their entrepreneurial efforts.

Ryan Helsley Day at 4 Hands!

The Cardinals will take on the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 15th in a 1:15 p.m. matchup. Helsley is scheduled to arrive at the brewery after the completion of the game, but the party is will get started at 3pm with a live DJ set, a t-shirt pop-up shop from Series Six, ballpark-inspired food from their Peacemaker kitchen, and tons of giveaways including baseballs, photos and other memorabilia signed by Helsley.

During his appearance at the brewery, Ryan will sign autographs and take photos with you!

Don’t forget about State Wide

I’d be remiss in not mentioning City Wide’s much hazier cousin State Wide. While The City Wide Mission donates thousands of dollars a year to the St. Louis community, State Wide is also a philanthropic beer that benefits efforts outside of St. Louis and across Missouri.

State Wide is a hazy pale ale with notes of citrus and stone fruit. A portion of every beer sold becomes a donation Veterans Community Project (VCP).  VCP supports every man and woman who took the oath for our country.
