Tiki Chocolate Milk Stout | 4 Hands Brewing
STYLE:Â Milk / Sweet Stout
ABV: 5.5%
BEER ADVOCATE RATING: 88
RATE BEER RATING: 93
BREWERY COMMENTS: This is our milk stout brewed with chocolate, coffee and coconut.
drinkMObeer COMMENTS (Tim): Part of the 2015 4 Hands Chocolate Milk Stout gift set release. The Tiki Chocolate Milk Stout lives up to itâs name. Although the coconut flavor wasnât overwhelming as some of the coconut beers can be it was definitely a major flavor of this beer and yes, I do like coconut. While not my favorite of the set I certainly would have another.
Hazelnutty |Â PaPPos Pizzeria & Brew Co.
STYLE:Imperial Brown Ale
ABV: 7%
BREWERY:Â PaPPos Pizzeria & Brew Co.
BREWERY COMMENTS: Imperial Hazelnut Brown Ale. Chocolate, coffee, and caramel malt flavors.
drinkMObeer COMMENTS (Chris): Whenever I can find a beer that features hazelnut three words come to mind⊠I. Must. Drink. So when I saw Hazelnutty on PaPPos Brew Coâs menu I knew it was a must have. Hazelnutty poured a dark brown with a nice off white head that laced the glass as I drank. The aroma was nothing less than amazing, huge chocolate and of course hazelnuts. The taste, oh man the taste, chocolate, chocolate, hazelnut, hazelnut, hazelnut, a touch of coffeeâŠand did I mention chocolate and hazelnut? In my completely biased opinion it was an amazing beer, so much so I bought a growler that was opened as soon as I got home. So, if you like chocolate and/or hazelnut, this Brown Ale is a beer worth seeking out. Prost!
Clemens Kölsch |  Mark Twain Brewing Co.
STYLE:Kölsch
ABV: 4.4%
IBU: 22
BREWERY:Â Mark Twain Brewing Co.
BREWERY COMMENTS: Brewed in the traditional German style, Clemensâ Kölsch features classic Pilsner malt flavors, a delicate, fruity aroma, and mild hop bitterness. Crisp, moderately dry, and sessionable.
drinkMObeer COMMENTS (Chris): Pours a clear straw yellow, with a decent foamy white head. The aroma had a very light grain smell to it. The taste is light, creamy, bready, with a touch of malty sweetness. The Clemens was true to Kölsch form as it had a super crisp, clean finish. Really enjoyed this one. Prost!
Odinson |Â Modern Brewery
STYLE:India Pale Ale
ABV: 6.6%
IBU: 70
BREWERY COMMENTS: The name Odinson is traced back to Asgaard (Norse Mythology). Quite literally, it is the surname of Thor (Thor, son of Odin). Much like its very close relative Citrapolis, Odinson is an uncharacteristically drinkable, âSuperâ IPA. Flavors and aromas include that of crisp peach and papaya, with hints of other bright tropical citrus fruits. While both dry and crisp, the juicy characteristics of the Mosaic hop variety leave the mouth watering for more.
drinkMObeer COMMENTS (Chris): First I had Citrapolis which was amazing, and now I have Odinson and itâs top shelf. I must say Modern Brewery has really put together a couple solid IPAs. Odinson pours a hazy yellow/amber with a nice thick white head. The aroma, amazingâŠcitrus, peachy, tropical fruits. The taste is packed with citrus, but also has a dank resiny element to it, which I loved. The only problem I found with the beer is that my pint glass was empty way too quickly. Ordering another one solved that problem though. Prost!
Bennie Mocha Stout with Coffee and Cacao Nibs |Â Log Boat Brewing Company
STYLE:Â Imperial Stout
ABV: 9%
IBU: 30
BREWERY:Â Log Boat Brewing Company
BREWERY COMMENTS:Â Bennie is brewed using fresh roasted coffee beans from Fretboard Coffee in Columbia, MO and locally sourced cocoa nibs. This American Stout provides a delicious balance of alcohol warmth, coffee flavors and a smooth chocolaty finish. Perfect for sipping around a warm fire with good friends and a deck of cards.
drinkMObeer COMMENTS (Andrew): I enjoyed this one at a recent bottle share, though I wouldâve liked to have enjoyed this robust brew all by myself. This elixir pours a rich black with a quickly dissipating dark tan head. The aroma delivers coffee and lactose creaminess with slightest hint of dark chocolate. I was immediately hit by the dark roasted coffee flavor with the roasted malts layering in and hiding any acidity from the coffee. The swallow reveals dark chocolate notes with vanilla that pair well with the creamy coffee stout. A great bottled beer that Iâd love to try on draft.
Mullineaux 4 |Â 2nd Shift Brewing Company
STYLE:Â Saison
ABV: 6%
IBU: French inspired Funky Saison
BREWERY:Â 2nd Shift Brewing Company
BEER ADVOCATE RATING: 86
BREWERY COMMENTS: French inspired Funky Saison.
drinkMObeer COMMENTS (Andrew): This classic from 2nd Shift pours a beautiful apricot with good carbonation with maringe white head that sticks around throughout. The nose provides what you want from a French saison, white pepper, yeasty, lemon curd scents with nice farmhouse funk and slight garden hose plastic. This brew coated the tongue with citrus esters, horse blanket hay notes and biscuit maltiness. The mouthfeel has medium plus carbonation and the finish is dry with slight tobacco/tea notes.
