The founders of MAUHAUS, the first permanent cat cafe in the St. Louis metro area, are hard at work preparing to open their business this fall, but they need help to make their dream (and honestly, all of our dreams) a reality.
Tuesday morning, their Kickstarter campaign went live.
The founders are self funding a lot of the startup costs, but they’re asking for the community’s help to raise the final $15,000 needed to open the cafe.
Rewards for Kickstarter backers range from an elite membership card for their Fur-ever Friends Club to access to the cafe before it opens to the public. And if someone donates over $1,000, they’ll get an exclusive gold coffee mug that grants the holder free coffee whenever they bring it in.
The cafe hopes to open in the 3100 block of Sutton Boulevard in Maplewood this fall. To meet health department regulations, the cafe will actually occupy two separate spaces– on one side will be the cafe where all the food and coffee is prepared. On the other side, cats and humans can hang out together.
As for beverages, MAUHAUS has partnered with Maplewood’s La Cosecha Coffee and Traveling Tea, so we know everything is going to be delicious!
You never know when you’re going to fall in love. If you meet your kitty soulmate while hanging out at MAUHAUS, you can take them home with you! MAUHAUS has partnered with Tenth Life Cat Rescue, and all the cats will be adoptable.
We’re incredibly excited for a cat cafe to open in St. Louis and we think Maplewood will be a purrfect fit.
