New Summer Solstice Beer Festival debuts Saturday, tix still available

One of my favorite beer festivals over the 15 years has been the Centennial Beer Festival, which grew from featuring a three-hour tasting, a few dozen beers and a couple of hundred guests to a week-long festival highlighting the Brewmaster’s dinner, home brewers contest, yoga buzz, the Brewer’s Guild, hundreds of beers, dozens of local brewers and thousands of annual beer fans.

But recent events, including the fire that ravaged the historic Centennial Malt House, which gave the festival its name, have forced the folks behind the festival to make a course correction.

“We find ourselves entering into a new chapter and as we fondly remember the Centennial, we look to the future and start the Summer Solstice Beer Festival,” wrote the Hamilton Hospitality Group in an email. “We are starting a new festival down the street at the Rhone which features both indoor and outdoor facilities and changed the date to take advantage of the longest day of the year. From music to venue to beer and food this festival will have a decidedly summer feel.”

The Beer

One of the best features of the Centennial / Summer Solstice Beer Festival is that they provide a complete pour list by brewery. So plan ahead and enjoy.
