Learning and tasting is the point behind Hopfenfest 2016

Does it sometimes feel like everytime you turn around there is a new beer to try? Just looking at my Twitter feed and learning what new beer is debuting, which one is on tap, which one is available at my local bottle shop, AHHHH!  It can be a bit overwhelming.

So, 2016 is the year we all should not only drink and enjoy our favorite new beers, but learn more about them.

That is the idea behind many local beer schools and events.  Teaching what beer really is and means.

Hopfenfest is a unique and intimate tasting event with an emphasis on beer education and evaluation. This year we’re delighted to have reps from the Haas Research Brewery in Yakima, Washington to discuss hops of the Yakima region and new varietals.
Admission* is $25 and includes:

– Samples of 4 new hop-centric UCBC beers with cheese pairings
– An IBU trial – see the difference IBU makes across the same beer at three different IBU levels
– Meet & greet and presentation from Haas Research Brewery
– A full pour of your favorite sampled bier (or UCBC favorite)
– A commemorative glass

* Tickets are only available at the door and may not be purchased in advance
