You don’t just make any old beer in honor of National IPA Day. You drop something that makes people sit up, sniff, sip, and say, “Yeah, I dig that.”
That’s exactly what 4 Hands Brewing Co. just did with City Wide IPA—a one-time, West Coast-style detour for the City Wide family. No flashy new branding. No mystery name. Just straight-up City Wide, but turned toward the Pacific with the hops cranked.
The Beer
Jeremy Danner, Digital Marketing Manager and Brand Ambassador for 4 Hands Brewing Co., will tell you the malt bill is simple—two-row pale malt with a cameo from Caramel 20—because its whole job is to let the hops strut. And strut they do: Krush, Mosaic, and the not-so-secret weapon, Citra DynaBoost.
“It’s an oil-enriched hop extract that brings amplified aromatics and explosive hop character,” says Danner. “Plus, it doesn’t dump hop solids into the wort, so you get more beer headed to the fermenter.”
The payoff? Grapefruit and lime right out of the gate, guava and passion fruit in the middle, and, if you’re paying attention, a blueberry note that just sneaks in. And yes—this came out of nowhere.
“We’re known for hazy IPAs,” Danner grins. “So, it’s fun to drop a gnarly West Coast IPA and surprise folks.”
No charity tie-in this time—this batch is too small and too fleeting for that. It’s just here to celebrate hops, flex some new brewing toys, and remind you that City Wide can still keep you guessing.
“That’s the cool thing about these limited drops,” Danner says. “They feed our innovation pipeline.”
The Bottom Line
