It’s officially porch-drinking season in the Show-Me State, and today, Missouri’s craft brewers are giving us something to raise a glass to. Say hello to the latest release in the Missouri Loves Company series: a crisp, Köln-inspired Kölsch-style ale, brewed in true collaborative spirit by breweries across the state—and expertly brought to life at Mother’s Brewing Company down in Springfield.
Yep, you read that right. This is not just a beer—it’s a love letter to Missouri beer culture. One recipe, 30+ breweries, and a single delicious goal: create something crushable, classic, and community-driven.
A Taste of Cologne, Born in the Ozarks
Let’s nerd out for a sec (you knew it was coming): Kölsch is a beer style with roots in Cologne, Germany. It’s a unique hybrid—fermented warm like an ale, but finished cold like a lager. The result? A light-bodied, 4.5% ABV beauty with soft fruity notes, a gentle malt sweetness, and a clean, dry finish that basically screams “beer garden approved.”
And while the recipe came together with help from brewers across Missouri—via video calls and collective know-how—the actual brewing happened at Mother’s. They hosted the brew day, stirred the mash, ran the boil, and turned good intentions into good beer.

Why This Beer Matters
Aside from being dangerously drinkable, Missouri Loves Company® Kölsch does more than quench your thirst. It supports the Missouri Craft Brewers Guild, helping fund advocacy efforts that protect and promote the independent breweries that make our state’s beer scene so special.
So yes—you’re drinking something delicious. But you’re also backing the little guys. The good guys. The brewers who know your name when you walk in the taproom.
