Schlafly’s ‘Cans for Cans’ program returns

We’re on a mission to shine a light on how brewers around the St. Louis region are using their beer and time to help out our community.

Drinkin’ For A Cause – is us on the lookout for any event, beer release, or genuine “good idea” that brings beer and beer lovers together for a good cause.  If you know of an event, please post the information on our Facebook page.

Schlafly Beer, St. Louis’ original, independent craft brewery,  announces the return of their seasonal “Cans for Cans” food drive, a program for the holiday giving season to benefit St. Louis Area Foodbank.

From now until Wednesday, November 30, St. Louisans can donate two non-perishable canned goods and receive one can of Schlafly beer.*

Canned food donations can be made at all Schlafly brewpubs: the Schlafly Tap Room in downtown St. Louis (2100 Locust Street); Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood (7260 Southwest Avenue); Schlafly Bankside in St. Charles (920 S Main St, St Charles, MO 63301); Schlafly Highland Square (907 Main St, Highland, IL 62249).

All donated canned goods will be delivered to St. Louis Area Foodbank to help address food insecurities in our community.

Last year, Schlafly donated an overflowing pallet of food that equated to 864 pounds thanks to the St. Louis community and their continued support of the Cans for Cans program.

“This is our sixth year of hosting the ‘Cans for Cans’ initiative and, thanks to the community’s support, we’re able to increase the contribution made each year,” said Schlafly Beer’s CEO Fran Caradonna. “We feel that Schlafly has a responsibility to give back, and we’re lucky to have the support from St. Louisian who help us make a difference for local families who are fighting hunger each day. We hope to double our contribution this year and ask everyone to join us in reaching this goal.”

St. Louis Area Foodbank provides food and services to 26 counties in Missouri and Illinois. More than 392,000 people in the bi-state region rely on the Foodbank for assistance each year.

*One can of Schlafly beer is redeemable for every two non-perishable canned food items donated. Guests can donate up to 12 canned food items to redeem up to six cans of beer per visit. Must show proof of 21+ ID with donation.
