One of the things I look forward too most regarding craft beer is how more and more breweries are finding that one beer in their portfolio that has really hit home with beer lovers, and continue to innovate that beer via variants.
My first introduction to variants was via Bourbon County Stouts many years ago. Some might say it’s a marketing trick, but even so, they make loving beer more fun, and that’s enough for me. “They are just something fun for us to play around with,” said Libby Crider, co-owner of 2nd Shift Brewing, when I was asking her about variants. “Once we see how they go over, we may, at a future date package them in a greater quantity”
One of my favorite series from a St. Louis brewery just happens to be 2nd Shifts Liquid Spiritual Delight or LSD.
On Wednesday, September 25th, 2nd Shift if kicking off LSD season with an early release that sounds fantastic. A new Coffee Vanilla Liquid Spiritual Delight Imperial Stout will be the first of the season. This beer is blended with Mexican Vanilla Beans & Blueprint Coffee Delmar Finca Esperanza Beans.
