Is “Bar Rescue” here to save Van Goghz?

There is not denying it.  Something is going on at Van Goghz Martini Bar & Bistro in the Tower Grove East neighborhood, which happens to be two blocks from the Drink314 headquarters.    The trucks began appearing over the Halloween weekend and quickly ‘neighborhooders’ began asking, “What’s going on?”

IMG_1324Last night, in a blog post, St. Louis Post Dispatch entertainment reporter Gail Pennington reported “A crew from the Spike series ‘Bar Rescue’ was spotted in Compton Heights.”  Aside from not knowing where TGE ends and Compton Heights begins, she was correct that something was definitely going on, and although there has been nothing mentioned on either Van Goghz’ website or social media feeds, a few neighbors posted on the TGE Facebook feed that it was indeed “Bar Rescue” that was in town.

For those who’ve not seen the show, “Bar Rescue” is a docu-reality series featuring veteran nightlife expert Jon Taffer as he seeks to revamp and rescue bars on the brink.  If Taffer and his team of experts are in your bar than you can bet there is a good reason.  Posts on the Facebook feed featured plenty of supporting comments as well as those who had been disappointed with the service and the product, but were hopeful that Taffer and his crew could turn Van Goghz into something the neighborhood could be proud to call their own.
