Center Ice Brewing closing taproom, will continue brewing

St. Louis’ first and only hockey-themed craft brewery, Center Ice Brewery, has announced that it’s closing its taproom at 3126 Olive Street in Midtown. Its last day of service will be this Saturday, February 12. This is the second brewery to close due to not renewing its lease in the last two months.

The announcement came on Thursday, via a Facebook post made just at 7 p.m.

“Our lease for our taproom has expired, and we have not renewed,” wrote the brewery.

Center Ice Brewery Closing Taproom

The brewery, which opened 5 years ago, not only became a great place to watch a Blues and game and drink really good beer, it became a pregame tradition for legions of beer drinking Blues fans. In 2017, they launched their shuttle, allowing fans to park near the brewery, buy a pint, and ride safely to and from the game. And with parking costs the way they are, this was a wonderful service to offer its customers.

In their statement, the brewery announced its closing would not affect its shuttle through the rest of the week.

“We can’t thank you all enough for your support over the last 5+ years. From watching the Blues win the Stanley Cup to sharing a pint on a casual Sunday, we have been lucky to spend this time growing and learning with you. Thank you to our team for always giving 100%, constantly pushing to be better, and making this a place we loved to come to work.”

The good news, at least, is that this isn’t the end for Center Ice Brewery. The brewery will continue to brew its beer while making it available in local stores. No information has been released on where they will continue to brew.

In December, Charleville Brewing Company announced it was not renewing its lease at its location, on Chouteau in south St. Louis.
